When you spend as much time as I do mixing and matching cards, you start to see thematic “currents” emerge. My personal project, Mermaid Type Project, has always been about the intersection of form and the deep blue, and these newest additions feel like they were pulled from those same waters.
They bring a mix of sophisticated minimalism, atmospheric depth, and stormy energy that adds a massive amount of narrative texture to my oceanic reading sessions.
The New Maritime Lineup
These decks offer a beautiful range of “voices” for the water-elemental collector:

• The Nereid Oracle (Stevyn Llewellyn): A stunningly minimalist, blue-and-white exploration of the sea-nymphs of myth. Its clean lines and fluid movement feel like a perfect companion to the structural focus of my own series.

• The Ocean Tarot: Richly illustrated and atmospheric, this deck captures the deep-sea magic of the mermaid realm with a traditional but highly polished aesthetic.

• Tempest Tarot Deck (Maisy Bristol): Bringing a moodier, more atmospheric “storm” energy, this deck explores the darker, wilder side of the water element.

The Infinite Mix
With over 250 decks at my fingertips, I love watching these maritime decks interact. Pulling a card from The Nereid Oracle alongside a more traditional deck allows me to bridge the gap between ancient sea-myth and modern intuition. It’s this constant layering of visual languages—mixing the calm of the Nereid with the turbulence of the Tempest—that keeps my practice evolving.
What’s in Your Treasure Chest?
I’m always looking to expand this specific corner of my library. I’m currently on the hunt for:
• Indie Mermaid Decks that play with unique art styles like linocut or abstract forms.
• Oceanic Oracles that focus on specific sea life, coastal folklore, or maritime history.
• Blue-Scale Decks that maintain a monochromatic or limited-palette oceanic feel.
What sea-themed or high-art decks am I missing? Leave your suggestions in the comments—let’s keep this collection growing!
