An Invitation to Journey
Guided by Jung’s psychological technique of “sticking to the image,” an old woodcut print of a mermaid couple inspired this work. These mermaids soon merged with the tradition of tarot, which is a tool often used in challenging relationship dynamics. Tarot is like a collection of memes that’s been alive since the 1400’s. Tarot has proven to be a great well of joy, and something I like to share.
Tarot spreads serve as the structural blueprint for a reading, transforming a random selection of cards into a cohesive narrative. By assigning specific meanings or “themes” to each position—such as a person’s motivations, a hidden obstacle, or a potential timeline—the spread provides the necessary context to interpret the cards’ symbolism in a relatable story. Essentially, spreads act as a lens that focuses the intuitive energy of the people, allowing the reader to map out a situation and find clarity in the complexity.
Below is a set of common 6-card spreads I have collected and organized to tackle life situations:
An offer of 1 card readings, for an experiential understanding
At its core, this project is active imagination, myth-making, and visual communication. You are invited to follow the mermaids into paint, text, and digital hallucinations. Experiment with images, videos, and audio, and combine them into your own meanings. Below is a photo of the card back designs from some of my prototype decks. Below the photo is a button to take you to a page where you can click on the cards and interact with them for free.

Are you curious what card you will get?
Public Sharing
Starting in 2016, the project culminated in 2025 with an exhibition titled Cuckoo’s Mixed Reality Nest. This show embodied the journey: a playful, evocative nest for the creative spirit, both in-person at Cypress Gallery and online. Viewers are invited to participate—to “try on” inspiration, connect through masks and collaborative art, and experience the expanded possibilities of mixed reality.

Fantasy Elements: The fantasy genre opens up endless possibilities for world-building, magical creatures, and epic adventures. Incorporating elements like mermaids, underwater realms, and mystical creatures adds a sense of wonder and escapism, capturing the reader’s imagination and creating a captivating and enchanting story. It’s also about creating space for community engagement with people and materials in both real-life and virtual settings.
Digital Media Educational Materials: By integrating digital media, such as maps, character profiles, and educational articles, the book becomes more than just a passive reading experience. Readers can access supplementary materials that provide in-depth explanations of the tarot cards used, background lore on the fantasy world, and practical applications of tarot wisdom in their daily lives.

Dyslexia & Empowerment
Multimedia Narrated Video Format: Offering the book in a narrated video format adds an additional layer of engagement. It enables readers to experience the story through both visual and auditory senses, thereby enhancing their emotional connection with the characters and the plot. The narrated video format can also include animated illustrations, voice acting, and sound effects, bringing the world of the book to life in a more immersive way.
As an artist who is dyslexic, my creative journey has always been deeply intertwined with a profound understanding of how words and images invite us in—or keep us out. This experience fuels my commitment to designing publications and digital media that are inclusive and welcoming to everyone, especially those who find traditional reading or writing challenging. I walk an intuitive path, and below is a little explanation of the journey that led to what you see today.
Through my art and social media, I aim to raise awareness about the practical tools and adaptive technologies available to improve reading and writing skills. Whether it’s speech-to-text, font customization, AI-generated captions, or interactive storytelling formats, there are now more resources than ever to help transform obstacles into gateways. Sharing my experiences with dyslexia isn’t just personal—it’s a call to celebrate different ways of learning, and to support others in finding what works for them.
